Now, as engineers, we are the epitome of the practical use of science. We combine most of its branches to make a whole from part. It is only right that we should celebrate Science Day in the spirit it stands for. And a great way to do it is learn from someone in a higher position, someone to look up to.
Hold onto your seats. Here it comes!
As part of Science Day celebrations for 2018, we have invited the Father of BrahMos missile, Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai to speak in the college.I can picture the faces of puzzlement and probable embarrassment of not knowing who he is. Fear not, all is revealed below.
Following a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Madras University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, Dr. Pillai went on to secure a Ph.D from Pune University and a D.Sc. from Tumkur University. He has over four decades of experience in ISRO and DRDO, working under the visionary leaders Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Prof. Satish Dhawan and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
His contributions to the development of PSLV and SLV-3 are remarkable. Under the DRDO, his work includes the development of the Agni, Prithvi, Nag and Akash missiles. He is the founder, CEO and MD of BrahMos Aerospace, who manufacture the advanced, supersonic cruise missile BrahMos.
